PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --Javontae Hopkins scored 31 points and Orlando Horton, Jr. added 20 and the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team defeated the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 87-76 at home Monday.
Hopkins and Horton's stellar scoring performances led the Panthers (8-12, 3-4) in the contest. Hopkins tacked on five rebounds and three steals and Horton added two steals. Brian Myles also helped out with a double-double of 12 points and 21 rebounds.

Prairie View A&M forced 20 Alabama A&M turnovers while committing 16 themselves in Monday's game. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 20 points on the offensive end of the floor. Andre Nunley led the way individually with three steals.
How It Happened
After falling behind 19-12, Prairie View A&M went on a 16-0 run with 12:05 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Jr. Lane, to take a 28-19 lead. The Panthers then lost some of that lead but still entered halftime with a 40-32 advantage. Prairie View A&M did most of its first-half damage in the paint, scoring 24 of its 40 points close to the basket.
Prairie View A&M kept its lead intact before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Hopkins' layup, to grow the lead to 60-50 with 10:16 to go in the contest. The Panthers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 87-76 win. Prairie View A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 24 of its 47 points in the lane.
