PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Prairie View A&M football team has been recognized as the HBCU+ FCS team of the week after a grueling test of endurance and skill, clinching a nail-biting victory over the Grambling State Tigers in a dramatic regular season conference game on Saturday.
The teams battled through five overtimes before Prairie View emerged victorious with a final score of 36-34 during the 99th State Fair Classic in the longest FCS game since 2022 as 52,323 looked on at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Running back
Lamagea McDowell powered into the Grambling end zone for two points to cap the fifth overtime.
Ayden Jones and
Robert Edmonson had 12 and nine tackles, respectively, as the Panthers (2-3) ended GSU's three-game winning streak.
