Panthers Narrowly Defeated by Alabama St. Hornets in Season Finale Football Encounter

MONTGOMERY, Alabama --  In a tightly contested league football game on Saturday afternoon, the Prairie View A&M football team was narrowly defeated by the Alabama St. Hornets with a final score of 9-6 in Montgomery, Alabama. The game played under sunny skies, saw both teams locked in a defensive struggle, reflected in the low-scoring nature of the contest.

The Panthers displayed resilience throughout the game. They started strong, tying the game at the end of the first quarter and subsequently taking the lead in the second quarter thanks to two successful long-range field goals by special teams player Garcia Rodriguez Guillermo, hitting from 50 and 45 yards respectively. However, the Hornets managed to level the scores at 6-6 by halftime with a field goal of their own.

In the second half, both teams' defenses held strong, denying any touchdowns, indicating the high caliber of play and strategic execution. It wasn't until the final moments of the fourth quarter that Alabama State managed to break the deadlock with a decisive field goal, securing a victory with a final tally of 9-6.

Lamagea McDowell totaled 56 yards to lead the Panthers' ground attack in the game. Jamarious Brooks also tacked on 17 yards on the ground.

Jaden Johnson's most prolific target in the ballgame was James Burns, who caught three passes for 44 yards.

Kevin Davis showed out for the Prairie View A&M defense, recording eight tackles, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble. Keon Jones added three tackles and one interception.

The Panthers forced two turnovers in Saturday's contest, with Prairie View A&M turning those takeaways into three points.

How It Happened

Prairie View A&M responded to a 3-0 lead from Alabama State with a score to tie it up at 3-3 with 2:17 left in the first quarter. The Panthers proceeded to break the 3-3 tie with a 45-yard field goal, making the score 6-3. Prairie View A&M didn't score again in the game and Alabama State tacked on six more points to finish off the scoring.
