PRAIRIE VIEW, TX - Prairie View A&M University's volleyball star,
Kylee Owens, has been recognized with an AVCA All-Region selection as an Honorable Mention from the Southwest Region, underscoring her continued excellence and pivotal role in the Lady Panthers team.
Owens, hailing from Culver City, Calif., and a graduate of Culver City High School, has made significant strides this season as an outside hitter. Her outstanding statistics, including 355 kills, 47 aces, and 318 digs this season, along with crossing the remarkable milestone of 1000 career kills, have earned her widespread accolades. These achievements include being named the SWAC Volleyball Player of the Year and a place on the All-SWAC First Team.
The AVCA recognition reflects not only Owens' exceptional performance on the court but also her leadership and commitment, as noted by Head Volleyball Coach
Cheri Lindsay, who expressed great pride in Owens' achievements. "This is huge for Kylee, the team, and the University," said Coach Lindsay. "I am very proud and elated for Kylee. She has been an instrumental part of this team. First receiving SWAC Volleyball Player of the Year and now this!"
This honor is not just a testament to Owens' individual skills but also enhances Prairie View A&M's stature in collegiate volleyball. The AVCA, based in Lexington, Ky., is crucial in advancing the sport, with a membership base that includes collegiate and professional coaches and others involved in promoting and developing volleyball. The recognition from such a prestigious organization marks a significant highlight in Owens' collegiate volleyball career.
