BIRMINGHAM, AL -- In a tough non-conference men's basketball encounter on Friday evening, at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, AL, the Prairie View A&M Panthers, despite a 23-point showing from the bench, PVAMU fell to the UAB Blazers with a final score of 95-66. Despite a spirited effort from the Panthers' key players, the team struggled to overcome the Blazers' formidable defense.
The Panthers, who entered the half trailing by ten points at 29-39, found it difficult to narrow the gap in the second half. Nick Anderson led the scoring for Prairie View A&M with 15 points including 8 rebounds, followed closely by Tanahj Pettway with 13 points, and Braelon Bush who contributed 12 points. Despite solid individual performances, the cohesive defensive strategy of UAB, marked by notable blocks and rebounds, challenged the Panthers throughout the game.
Marcel Bryant pulled down two offensive rebounds to pace the Prairie View A&M offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into six second-chance points.
