Prairie View A&M rallies from late tie for 5-4 victory over Florida A&M

VERO BEACH, Fla. --The Prairie View A&M Panthers broke through after a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning to beat the Florida A&M Rattlers 5-4 Saturday.

Junior Leonardo Bravo (1-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (5-1). The right-hander went 1.1 shutout innings without giving up a hit, two walks, and striking out two. Junior Matthew Krall started the ballgame and went 5.1 innings, surrendering three runs, one earned, on four hits, walking three, and striking out two.

Senior Marshal Jonas led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a double, a walk, and two RBI. Junior Jayden Williams put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Freshman Michael Smith also chipped in, going 1-for-3 for Prairie View A&M with two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom of the first inning with the game still scoreless. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Williams, scoring Smith from third base.

The Panthers then held the Rattlers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Prairie View A&M scored once on a run-scoring single off the bat of Smith, which brought the score to 2-0 in favor of the Panthers.

Prairie View A&M held Florida A&M without a run before building their lead to 3-0 the following inning. The Panthers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Jonas.

The Rattlers then tied the ballgame at three before Prairie View A&M fought back to retake their advantage in the seventh inning. The Panthers sent home a run on Jonas' two-out RBI double, bringing the score to 4-3 in favor of Prairie View A&M.

Florida A&M came back to tie the ballgame at four before the Panthers reclaimed a 5-4 advantage in the eighth inning. Junior Jadin Moreno came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board. The score remained 5-4 for the rest of the game, as the Panthers held on for the win.
