BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference released its 2024 SWAC Preseason Teams and predicted order of finish Tuesday at the conference's media day, with Prairie View A&M and two players commanding attention.  The teams were released during the 2024 SWAC Football Media Day after ballots were completed by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

The Panthers had 104 total votes, as they were predicted to finish second in the West Division behind Alcorn State who had 112. The Braves and the Panthers had a league record of 6-2 last season. Grambling received 72 votes and Southern received 70 votes and is predicted to finish third and fourth in the division, while Arkansas–Pine Bluff (61), and Texas Southern rounded out the West with 40 votes.
Alabama State was selected to finish first with 114 points and 11 first-place votes. Last year's defending SWAC Champions Florida A&M followed Alabama State with 104 points, Jackson State received 87 points, followed by Alabama A&M (76), Bethune Cookman had 47 and Mississippi Valley State had 31 points.
Defensive end graduate student CJ Pressley was named to the All-SWAC First Team, while defensive lineman Jamal Marshall was named to the Defense Second Team.
