PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Chase Bingmon and Cameron Peters each broke the century mark Saturday afternoon, but Prairie View A&M fell 31-28 at home against Alabama State.
The Hornets improved to 6-2 on the year and 4-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Panthers fell to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference match ups.
Cameron Peters led Prairie View A&M's passing attack with 189 yards through the air, tossing three touchdowns and four interceptions. The signal caller also added 106 yards on the ground.
In addition to Cameron Peters' big day on the ground, the Panthers got a stellar performance from Bingmon, who ran for 118 yards and one touchdown.
Cameron Peters' most prolific target in the ballgame was Rodny Ojo, who caught three passes for 60 yards and two scores. Jyzaiah Rockwell got in on the action in the passing game as well, hauling in six balls for 55 yards.
Sterling Roberts showed out for the Prairie View A&M defense, collecting one recovered fumble. Team added and Rockwell had in the loss.
The Panthers forced one turnover in Saturday's contest, with Prairie View A&M turning that takeaway into seven points. Prairie View A&M put together a stellar performance on the ground, racking up 248 rushing yards while averaging 5.5 yards per carry and out-rushing Alabama State by 35 yards. The Prairie View A&M offense did a good job prolonging drives, converting on 56.2 percent of third-down attempts. The Panthers also went 3-for-3 on fourth down.
Prairie View A&M's defense held up against Alabama State's offense, giving up 334 total yards.

Prairie View A&M took a 7-0 lead over Alabama State after scoring the game's first points on the opening drive of the game.Another Panthers score then increased the lead to 14-0.
Alabama State then scored to make it a 14-7 game, but Prairie View A&M responded with 12:33 remaining in the second quarter to extend its lead to 21-7.Alabama State fought back to take a 31-21 lead, but the Panthers got on the scoreboard again to narrow the gap and make it a 31-28 game. Neither team scored again in the game.
