Stillwater, Okla. --The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team got a 21-point performance from the bench, but fell 94-67 to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road Wednesday.
The Panthers (2-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Tai'Reon Joseph, who had 16 points. Marcel Bryant added 10 points off of the bench and Doug Young helped out with 10 points.
The Prairie View A&M offense was very productive from beyond the arc, pouring in nine threes on 24 attempts. Joseph was the most prolific shooter for the Panthers, draining three treys in the contest.
The Prairie View A&M defense caused its share of mistakes in Wednesday's game, forcing 14 Oklahoma State turnovers while committing 12. Those takeaways turned into 13 points on the other end of the floor. Cory Wells led the way individually for the Panthers with one steal.
How It Happened
Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 46-32 heading into halftime.
Oklahoma State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 76-49 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Keeshawn Mason's three, to shrink the deficit to 76-55 with 6:31 to go in the contest. Oklahoma State responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 94-67. Prairie View A&M shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting five shots from deep to score 15 of its 35 points.
