Prairie View A&M falls short in 105-55 loss to Oklahoma State

, Gallagher --The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team fell short in a 105-55 loss to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on the road Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers (0-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Alana Shields, who had 16 points. Cj Wilson added 12 points and Crystal Schultz helped out with 10 points.

How It Happened

Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 18-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Panthers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 49-15 halftime deficit.

Oklahoma State continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 58-21 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a three from Jacque Giron, to trim its deficit to 58-26 with 6:31 to go in the third. Oklahoma State countered and stretched its lead to 75-34 heading into the fourth. Prairie View A&M played well near the basket, scoring 12 of its 19 points in the paint.

Oklahoma State kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 95-49 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 95-55 with 2:13 to go in the contest. Oklahoma State responded and outscored the Lady Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 105-55. Prairie View A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring six of its 21 total points.
