SAN MARCOS, TX -- Cj Wilson scored 24 points, but the Prairie View A&M women's basketball team fell to the Texas State Bobcats 93-52 on the road Sunday.
Wilson led the Lady Panthers (2-5) with 24 points. Mercy Wamet also added six points, seven rebounds and four steals off the bench and Alana Shields helped out with seven points and two steals.
The Prairie View A&M defense was a problem in Sunday's game, forcing 17 Texas State turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 15 points on the offensive end of the floor. Wamet's four steals led the way individually for the Lady Panthers.
How It Happened
Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 26-13 at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Panthers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 53-26 halftime deficit.
Prairie View A&M's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Panthers faced a 77-41 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter.
Prairie View A&M could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 93-52. Prairie View A&M fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 11 points.
