PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team saw all five starters score at least 10 points and knocked off the Dallas Crusaders 94-53 at home Wednesday.
The Panthers (2-0) had five players score in double figures, led by Tai'Reon Joseph, who had 20 points. Dontae Horne tacked on 17 points and six steals and Lance Williams helped out with 16 points and four assists.
Keeshawn Mason pulled down seven offensive rebounds to lead the Prairie View A&M offense which grabbed 11 boards and turned them into 16 second chance points.
Prairie View A&M's defense held Dallas to only 40 percent shooting from the field, including 21.1 percent from beyond the arc. The Crusaders did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with seven offensive rebounds and managed six second chance points while Prairie View A&M cleared 22 defensive rebounds.
How It Happened
After playing to a 2-2 tie, Prairie View A&M went on a 14-0 run with 18:59 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Horne, to take a 16-2 lead. The Panthers then added five points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 43-24 advantage. Prairie View A&M capitalized on 12 Dallas turnovers in the period, turning them into 19 points on the other end of the floor.
Following intermission, Prairie View A&M kept widening that lead, expanding it to 83-53 before going on an 11-0 run to grow the lead to 94-53 with 22 seconds to go in the contest, The Panthers held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 94-53 win. Prairie View A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 34 of its 51 points in the lane.
