BATON ROUGE, LA --Braelon Bush and Tanahj Pettway combined to score 37 total points - 61.7 percent of Prairie View A&M's points - but the Panthers fell to the Southern Jaguars 72-60 on the road Saturday.
Bush led the Panthers (4-21, 3-9) with 19 points. Pettway tacked on 18 points and two steals and Zaakir Sawyer helped out with 17 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Prairie View A&M did a great job disrupting Southern shots in the contest, coming away with six blocks. Ryan Bolton Jr. led the way individually for the Panthers with four rejections.
How It Happened
Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 40-24 heading into halftime.
Southern kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 42-24 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Pettway's three, to shrink the deficit to 42-31 with 16:19 to go in the contest. Southern responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 72-60. Prairie View A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 36 points in the lane.
