PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --Jordan Tillmon and Tanahj Pettway combined to score 39 total points, but the Panthers fell to the UAPB Golden Lions 75-64 at home Saturday.
Tillmon led the Panthers (4-23, 3-11) with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists. Pettway tacked on 17 points and two steals and Marcel Bryant helped out with eight points and two steals off of the bench.
The Prairie View A&M defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 14 UAPB turnovers while committing nine. Those takeaways turned into 12 points on the offensive end of the floor. Bryant led the way individually for the Panthers with two steals.
How It Happened
After falling behind 13-3, Prairie View A&M went on an 11-0 run with 15:51 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Bryant, to take a 14-13 lead. The Panthers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 32-31.
UAPB kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 36-34 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Tillmon's three, to seize a 43-36 lead with 15:40 to go in the contest. UAPB re-asserted control, outscoring the Panthers 39-21 the rest of the way to hand Prairie View A&M the 75-64 loss. Prairie View A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 33 points in the lane.
