Women's Track & Field Show Strong Performance at Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational

The Prairie View A&M women's track and field team delivered notable performances at the recent 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos. The events showcased the Panthers' talent and determination across various disciplines, marking significant individual and team achievements.

During the second day of the Texas Relays, the Panthers' women's 4x400 meter relay team, comprising Treasure Bethea, Zara Richardson, Nikiyah Williams, and Jasir Miller, made a remarkable run, placing second in their heat. Although they narrowly missed qualifying for the finals, their effort was a highlight of the meet and the women's team performance. Additionally, Savoria Anderson excelled in section A of the triple jump on day three of Texas Relays, clearing a distance of 12.30 meters.

At the Bobcat Invitational, the team continued to shine. On day one, Treasure Bethea and Zara Richardson competed in section B of the 400 meters, posting times of 59.06 and 59.70 seconds, respectively. Richardson also ran in the 800 meters, clocking 2:15.32, while Lea Murphy followed closely with 2:18.55. Christina Fitzpatrick and Kamara Bradley achieved season-best times in the 5000 meters, running 19:45.49 and 20:07.54, respectively. Keonna Otis also made her mark in the discus, throwing 42.25 meters.

The team's momentum continued on the second day, with Krislyn Green and Michaela Booker throwing 13.68 meters and 13.54 meters in the shot put, respectively. Lea Murphy and Maya Clark both achieved personal records in the 1500 meters, with Murphy finishing at 4:56.15 and Clark at 4:59.38. Lastly, on day 3 of the Bobcat Invitational, the women's 4x400m relay team, including Bethea, Richardson, Williams, and Janiya Wilkins, also impressed with a time of 3:48.42. Miller competed in section A of the 400m, with a time of 56.02.

Looking ahead, the Panthers are set to compete in the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational in Houston, Texas, on April 4, 2025. The team aims to continue its strong performance and carry the momentum into the next series of competitive challenges.
