Prairie View A&M Panthers Fall in NCAA Bowling Regionals Opener

4/3/2025 12:05:00 PM

In the NCAA Bowling Regional opening round, the Prairie View A&M Panthers women's bowling team faced a tough defeat against Belmont Abbey on April 3, 2025, at the ITRC in Arlington, TX. The Panthers struggled to overcome their opponents in this best-of-3 format, marking an end to their post-season with a final score of 2-0.

The Panthers opened the competition with a traditional match, where Belmont Abbey took the lead by scoring 963 against PVAMU's 832. Despite an intense second match in the subsequent baker format—five games in total—Prairie View A&M couldn't turn the tide. Belmont Abbey secured wins in the first three baker games, with PVAMU clinching the fourth game. However, a win by Belmont Abbey in the decisive fifth game concluded the Panthers' season. Jalyne Myers led the Panthers, scoring the most strikes for her team with a total of ten.

Reflecting on the season, senior Amani Moore expressed mixed feelings, "We had the morale, but it wasn't that strong this time around. Overall, I'm glad I ended my college season with 2 rings and finally got my (SWAC) all-tournament team honor." Teammate and senior Jalyne Myers added, "The team welcomed me when I transferred in. It was great to be on this team. I wanted to get my ring before I left, and I got one."

Head Coach Tiffany Clark, in her first year and first post-season appearance, remained optimistic about the future, "For this to be my first year as a head coach and make it this far to the NCAA regional means a lot. I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls, and I'm definitely going to miss my seniors. Starting off like this shows I have a lot to come for."

This game marks the Panthers' second NCAA Regionals appearance, the first being in 2023. Despite the day's results, the variance in performance hinted at a promising future under Coach Clark's guidance.
