PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - With just 14 days remaining until the season opener, the Prairie View A&M football team took another important step forward during its second scrimmage on Saturday. New Head Coach Tremaine Jackson shared his perspective on the team's performance and areas of progress as the countdown to kickoff continues.
"I thought we are better than we were two weeks ago and we should be better. We did better defensively. There were some young guys who got in on both sides of the ball that preformed well. I was pleased with the special teams," Coach Jackson said.
The scrimmage highlighted the team's growing depth, as younger players stepped up and made an impact. Defensively, the unit showed improved communication and execution, while special teams provided consistency and momentum.
As the team heads into the final two weeks of preparation, Coach Jackson and his staff are focused on building consistency and sharpening execution. "We've made progress, but we have to keep working to be ready when the lights come on," he added.
Coach Jackson also had a message for the fans: "Our guys are working hard, and they can't wait to represent this program and the community. We're looking forward to seeing the stands filled with energy on all game days!
The Panthers will officially kick off the 2025 season in the 40th Labor Day Classic on Saturday, August 30 when they take on Texas Southern at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.Â
