PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (August 24, 2025) — The countdown is on! In just six days, Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University face off in one of the SWAC's most storied rivalries in the 40th Annual Labor Day Classic, set for Saturday, August 30, at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The week leading up to the game will be filled with Panther Pride, community spirit, and tradition as PVAMU gears up for one of the season's biggest moments.
Labor Day Classic Week Events:

Monday, August 25 – Press Conference & Kickoff Luncheon 12:00 Noon
Coaches and athletic directors from both programs will meet with local media in Houston to preview the 40th edition of the rivalry game. Shell Energy Statdium.

Wednesday, August 27 – Touchdown Luncheon 12:00 Noon
The TD Club will host the 25th annual Texas Southern-Prairie View A&M Labor Day Classic Luncheon at the Omni-Galleria, 4 Riverway. Tickets are $35 each. Tables are 10 seats each and cost $350. Purple and Maroon table sponsorship are available for $500 each. For tickets, call Neal Farmer at 713-849-9860, or email houtdclub@att.net. Speaking will be the coaches and athletic directors of each school. The TD Club created the Durley-Nix Trophy, which is presented to the winning school on the field immediately after the game.
