PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Prairie View A&M football reached a key milestone in fall camp Saturday, taking the field for its first scrimmage of the preseason as part of the 10th day of practice.
Under new head coach Tremaine Jackson, the Panthers showcased energy, toughness, and resilience despite the grind of camp beginning to set in. The scrimmage gave the coaching staff their first extended look at the team in a game-like environment.
"This is day 10 and we had our first scrimmage, and I am really proud of our guys for the way they attacked today knowing their legs are tired," Jackson said. "We made some mistakes that we needed to make to grow from this early on in camp. Now we turn the corner to get into the true two weeks of camp, and hopefully, there are some situational things we can work on."
The scrimmage served as an important evaluation point for both veterans and newcomers, allowing position battles to continue to take shape. With two weeks remaining before the season opener, the Panthers will now shift their focus to situational drills and fine-tuning execution on both sides of the ball.
Prairie View A&M kicks off the 2025 season on Saturday, August 30, in the Labor Day Classic against Texas Southern at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston.
