JACKSON, MS --Dontae Horne scored 38 points and Cory Wells added 23, but the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team fell to the Jackson State Tigers 82-78 on the road Saturday.

Horne and Wells' stellar scoring performances led the Panthers (8-10) in the contest. Horne tacked on five rebounds and three steals and Wells added 11 rebounds. Lance Williams also helped out with eight points and seven assists.

Wells pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead the Prairie View A&M offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 13 second chance points.

Prairie View A&M forced 17 Jackson State turnovers while committing 11 themselves in Saturday's game. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 20 points on the offensive end of the floor. Corey Dunning led the way individually with three steals.

How It Happened

After falling behind 35-26, Prairie View A&M went on a 5-0 run with 1:50 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Wells, to narrow its deficit to 35-31. Jackson State answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Panthers down 42-36 entering halftime.

Prairie View A&M narrowed its deficit to 65-63 before going on a 6-0 run to seize a 69-65 lead with 5:59 to go in the contest. Jackson State re-asserted control, outscoring the Panthers 17-9 the rest of the way to hand Prairie View A&M the 82-78 loss. Prairie View A&M got out on the break in the period, scoring 14 fast break points.
