Prairie View A&M turned in a balanced effort across the track and the field Saturday at the HBCU Showcase at The Armory in New York, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the 60 meters and multiple performances that cracked the program's all-time indoor lists in the distance events. The Panthers produced top-eight finishes in sprints, jumps and throws while the distance group delivered two of the fastest 3,000-meter times in school history.

Sprinter Mikyah McDonald led the way on the track in the short sprints, advancing out of the 60-meter prelims in 7.64 seconds before dropping her time to 7.52 in the final to place second overall. In the hurdles, Sanai Kintchen clocked 8.84 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, giving Prairie View A&M another competitive presence in the short barrier event as the program continues to build early-season sharpness.

The Panthers showed strong depth in the 400 meters, with two athletes finishing within two-tenths of a second of each other. Nikiyah Williams led the duo with a 58.37, followed closely by Treasure Bethea in 58.54 as both athletes established themselves as reliable quarter-milers for the indoor campaign. In the mile, Lea Murphy paced the group in 5:15.46, followed by a personal-best effort from Christina Fitzpatrick in 5:23.75 and a 5:25.00 showing from Nina Story, underscoring the team's developing strength in the middle-distance group.

Fitzpatrick produced one of the meet's signature performances for Prairie View A&M in the 3,000 meters. She recorded a personal best of 10:50.22, which goes down as the third-fastest indoor 3,000 time in Prairie View A&M history. Teammate Meagan Meyers followed closely in 11:00.98, the seventh-best mark on the Panthers' all-time list, giving the program two top-10 historical performances in the event on the same day.'

In the field events, Prairie View A&M earned key points and placements across multiple disciplines. In the high jump, Kimora Maxey cleared 1.58 meters to finish third, while Raina Thomas and Mariah Turner each cleared 1.53 meters to tie for seventh. Horizontal jumper Jada Stanford added a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.55 meters, and pole vaulter Jaliyah Gray cleared 2.75 meters to take fourth in her event, giving the Panthers a solid presence in the vertical jumps as well.

The throws group also contributed with steady marks. Kintchen carried her versatility into the ring, throwing 12.40 meters in the shot put, while Kaylan Woodrow delivered a 14.80-meter mark in the weight throw as the Panthers continued to build their early-season form in the throwing events. Combined with the team's sprint, distance and jumping performances, Prairie View A&M left New York with momentum and several benchmarks that rank among the best in school history.

Prairie View A&M will look to build on those results at its next competition, the New Mexico Team Open on Jan. 30-31 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the Panthers are expected to see strong national-level fields and continue shaping their lineup ahead of championship season.
