LAFAYETTE, La. — Sophomore Kearstin Tinsley and senior Kayla Zaid each recorded three-hit performances, but the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers came up just short in a 3–2 loss to the Texas A&M-CC Islanders on Saturday.
Kayla Adams (1-1) earned the start in the circle for Prairie View A&M (2-4) and went the distance, allowing three runs—two earned—on six hits across six innings. The right-hander issued five walks and struck out two.
Zaid led the offense, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Tinsley also finished with three hits. Junior Reagan Green chipped in with a hit and drew two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Prairie View A&M answered an early Islanders run in the second inning when Zaid delivered an RBI single to score junior Jade Uresti from third. The Panthers then grabbed a 2–1 lead in the fourth as senior Dyani McKinley crossed the plate.
Texas A&M-CC responded with two runs over the final three innings to regain the lead, and Prairie View A&M was unable to generate a late comeback.

LAFAYETTE, La. — Prairie View A&M bounced back in dramatic fashion, edging the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 6–5 behind a timely offensive surge and strong relief pitching.
Sophomore Yazmyn Stewart (1-1) earned the win out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (3-4), tossing four innings while allowing just one run on four hits.
Ashlee Elizarraras paced the Panthers offensively, finishing 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, and two RBIs. Senior Mia Nunez added a 2-for-3 performance with a double and two RBIs, while Breayna Jackson drove in a run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers struck first in the second inning before Louisiana responded with four runs to take a 4–3 lead. Prairie View A&M answered in the fifth, erupting for three runs highlighted by Elizarraras' two-RBI double to reclaim the lead at 6–4.
Louisiana added a run late, but the Panthers held firm to secure the one-run victory.
