Baseball Drops Midweek Contest to TAMCC

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX --The Prairie View A&M Panthers had a tough showing on Tuesday, falling to the Texas A&M-CC Islanders by final score of 9-2.

Senior Alejandro Marquez (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (3-4). Junior Oliver Brown was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three innings, surrendering one run on two hits, walking three and striking out three.

In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by freshman Basilio Williams, who went 1-for-2 on the day with two walks. Senior Michael Burroughs furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Corie Lockette also chipped in for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers were trailing 4-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Williams came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board.

The Panthers deficit expanded to 9-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the ninth inning. Williams came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which tightened the Islanders lead to 9-2. The ballgame ended with that ninth inning rally falling short.
