Prairie View A&M Plates Six Runs in Loss to New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, NM --An outstanding offensive output was not enough for Prairie View A&M on Friday. The Panthers scored six runs, but could not hold the New Mexico State Aggies at bay, and were defeated 12-6.

Beau Beaty (1-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (3-4).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 4-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the second inning. Corie Lockette came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board.

The Aggies expanded their lead to 7-1 before the Panthers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. which brought the score to 7-4 in favor of the Aggies.

New Mexico State expanded their lead to 10-4 before the Prairie View A&M offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 10-5 in the seventh.

The Aggies expanded their lead to 12-5 before the Prairie View A&M offense got back to work, biting into that lead in the ninth. Sonnier Moses crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Panthers, tightening the New Mexico State lead to 12-6. The ballgame ended with that ninth inning rally falling short.
