Walker and Ham shine in Prairie View A&M's 8-6 loss to Grambling

GRAMBLING, Louisiana --Hunter Ham and Ethan Walker each collected three hits, but the Prairie View A&M Panthers fell to the Grambling Tigers 8-6 on Saturday.

Oliver Brown (1-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (7-30, 3-14). Isaac Herrera was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going five innings, surrendering three runs, one earned, on six hits, walking one and striking out three.

In addition to his three hits, Walker had two doubles, a walk and an RBI to lead the Panthers, along with Ham's three base knocks. Ryland Duson also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in five trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Michael Burroughs, scoring Walker from third base.

The Tigers then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead before the Panthers got back on the board in the second. Walker's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Prairie View A&M scored twice, which brought the score level at 3-3.

Grambling broke that tie and grabbed a 7-3 lead heading into the eighth, when Prairie View A&M closed the gap to 7-6. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Grambling added one run to their tally on the way to an 8-6 final.
