4/9/2026 12:39:00 PM

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The Prairie View A&M baseball team returns home to Tankersley Field this weekend to host Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series beginning Friday. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m., with the Panthers looking to build momentum in front of their home crowd.

Scouting Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (15-20, 8-4) enters the weekend with a balanced offensive attack, led by a core group of hitters producing consistent numbers at the plate. Aaron Grant paces the Golden Lions with a .356 batting average and a .986 OPS, while Blake Coleman (.333, 33 RBI) and Zach Wieder (.328, 29 RBI) provide additional run production.

Konner Giddley (.315) and Jose Vasquez (.292) round out a lineup that shows patience at the plate, combining for a high number of walks and on-base percentage across the board. The Golden Lions have also shown the ability to apply pressure on the bases, with multiple players contributing in the stolen base column.

On the mound, UAPB is led by Jalen Porter (4.91 ERA), Kenney Fabian (5.06 ERA), and Reagan James (5.45 ERA). While each has shown the ability to generate strikeouts, control and limiting free passes will be key, as the staff has allowed its share of base runners throughout the season.

Panthers at a Glance

Prairie View A&M (6-25, 2-10) continues to swing the bat well, led by Ryland Duson, who boasts a team-best .385 average and 1.054 OPS. Duson's consistency at the top of the lineup has set the tone offensively, while Tyvon Moore (.314) and Brandon Stinson (.313) have provided a spark in both power and situational hitting.

Basilio Williams (.278) and Corie Lockette (four home runs) add depth to the lineup, while Ethan Walker has been efficient both at the plate (.294) and on the bases (8-for-9 in stolen base attempts). The Panthers' ability to manufacture runs and capitalize with runners in scoring position remains a strength.

In their last outing against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Prairie View A&M showed resilience at the plate, scoring its highest output in the fourth inning and going 2-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Duson led the way with a double and an RBI, while the Panthers also worked four walks.

On the mound, the Panthers will look for improved command as they aim to limit scoring opportunities and keep the Golden Lions' offense in check. Starters Kenneth Haynes, Beau Beaty, and Isaac Herrera will be key in setting the tone throughout the weekend.

Series Outlook

With both teams featuring capable offenses, this weekend's series could come down to pitching efficiency and timely hitting. Prairie View A&M will aim to take advantage of its home-field advantage at Tankersley Field, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff looks to capitalize on scoring opportunities and keep pressure on the Panthers' pitching staff.
