Panthers Battle Back in Thriller, Take Down Delta Devils 5-3

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Friday afternoon baseball brought the energy as the Prairie View A&M Panthers fought back to defeat the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 5-3 in an exciting showdown packed with clutch hits, momentum swings, and lockdown pitching.

The Panthers were fueled by a huge performance from Ethan Walker, who stayed hot at the plate all game long with three hits to lead the offensive attack. Prairie View A&M showed resilience after falling behind early, battling back inning after inning to protect home field and secure the victory.

Prairie View A&M struck first in the second inning when Zacarias Salinas crushed a lead off home run, igniting the crowd and tying the game at 1-1. Mississippi Valley State answered with two runs of their own, but the Panthers refused to back down.

In the third inning, Prairie View A&M answered in dramatic fashion. Ryland Duson ripped a run-scoring double to spark a two-run inning and tie the game at 3-3, shifting the momentum back to the Panthers.

The game stayed tight until the fifth inning when Prairie View A&M grabbed the lead for good, making it 4-3. Then came the insurance run in the sixth, as John Lawson delivered a clutch two-out RBI double to extend the lead to 5-3.

On the mound, Beau Beaty battled through five innings to earn the win, while Ty Pankonin shut the door with three scoreless innings of relief, striking out three and keeping the Delta Devils from mounting a comeback.

The Panthers' pitching staff came through in key moments all night, holding Mississippi Valley State to just one hit in six chances with runners in scoring position.

Prairie View A&M's offense combined timely hitting with aggressive playmaking, highlighted by Walker's three-hit performance, Salinas' powerful home run and two RBIs, and Duson's clutch extra-base hit.

With the win, the Panthers showed grit, energy, and the ability to respond under pressure in front of the home crowd.
