The 2026 season marked a year of growth and resilience for the Prairie View A&M baseball program under first-year head coach Daniel Dulin. While the Panthers finished with a 14-36 overall record and a 10-18 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, the team closed the campaign on a high note by winning its final four games, providing momentum and optimism heading into next season.
Prairie View showcased one of the conference's most productive offenses throughout the season, finishing with a .283 team batting average while recording 455 hits, 77 doubles, 34 home runs and 307 runs scored. The Panthers consistently demonstrated their ability to generate offense, led by several standout individual performances.
Senior Ryland Duson emerged as one of the SWAC's premier hitters, batting .384 while leading the team with 73 hits, 40 runs scored, seven home runs and 45 RBIs. He also posted a team-best 1.039 OPS and .584 slugging percentage, cementing himself as one of the conference's most dangerous offensive threats.
Tyvon Moore provided a spark at the top of the lineup, hitting .312 with 49 hits, 43 runs scored and a team-high 12 stolen bases, while Basilio Williams contributed a balanced season by batting .288 with 45 hits, 24 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. Michael Burroughs added power in the middle of the order, driving in 37 runs and belting five home runs, while Zacarias Salinas made the most of his opportunities by hitting .328 with four home runs and a .999 OPS in just 24 appearances.
Ethan Walker also proved to be an important contributor, batting .310 while leading the Panthers with 23 stolen bases, highlighting Prairie View's aggressive approach on the basepaths.
On the mound, Isaac Herrera emerged as the team's most consistent pitcher, posting a 3.72 ERA over 55.2 innings while recording three victories. Beau Beaty logged a team-high 72 innings and earned three wins, while Kenneth Haynes added 56.2 innings with 41 strikeouts. Ty Pankonin was a reliable option out of the bullpen, finishing with a 4.97 ERA and earning both a win and a save.
Although the season presented its share of challenges, the Panthers continued to compete throughout conference play and showed significant offensive potential. The team's determination was evident during its season-ending four-game winning streak, providing a positive conclusion to the year and valuable experience for a roster poised to continue developing.
With several key contributors returning and a solid offensive foundation already in place, Prairie View A&M enters the offseason focused on building consistency on the mound while carrying the confidence gained from its strong finish into the 2027 campaign.
