PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Senior Thierry Garcon was named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week following an outstanding season-opening performance at the Bearkat Invitational.

Garcon dominated the men's field on Friday, setting the tempo from the gun to capture a first-place overall finish with a winning time of 16:04.6. His individual victory set the standard for the program, anchoring the Panthers to a strong third-place finish in the overall team standings.

The recognition marks the league's first weekly cross country award of the season on the men's side. As a veteran leader for the squad, Garcon adds another career conference honor to his resume as he sets his sights on a strong final collegiate campaign.

Garcon and the Panthers will look to build on their opening-meet success as they continue their fall schedule in preparation for the SWAC Championships.
