Jacob Surdy joins Prairie View A&M University as a football analyst for the 2025 season, bringing a strong foundation in defensive football and a diverse background in coaching and player development.
Surdy arrives at Prairie View following a two-year stint at Sam Houston State University, where he served as a Graduate Assistant Coach working closely with the defensive line. He initially joined the program as a Defensive Line Quality Control Intern in early 2023, contributing to film breakdown, data analysis, and on-field preparation. His time at Sam Houston refined his technical knowledge and sharpened his ability to assess opponent tendencies and implement effective defensive strategies.
Prior to Sam Houston, Surdy gained valuable experience at Baylor University, where he served as the Defensive Line Student Manager for over two years. There, he assisted with signaling defensive plays, coordinating drills, and supporting day-to-day operations during practices and games. His role at Baylor immersed him in Big 12 football and cultivated his keen attention to detail, communication skills, and passion for the game.
In addition to football, Surdy demonstrated his coaching versatility through his work with the Scott Drew Basketball Camp, where he led youth teams to league-best records over two consecutive summers. His early experience also includes officiating youth baseball and working in support roles, showcasing a lifelong dedication to athletics and teamwork.
A native of Wimberley, Texas, Surdy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 2022. He brings energy, discipline, and a relentless drive to contribute to the success of the Panthers football program in his first season on The Hill.
