Shay Taylor

Taylor joins Prairie View A&M Athletics as the Assistant Football General Manager, bringing more than a decade of experience in football operations, recruiting, student-athlete development, and administrative leadership at the collegiate level.

Taylor arrives at Prairie View after serving at the University of Arkansas as the Director of Football Relations, adding to an extensive background that includes impactful roles at SMU and Arizona State University. Most recently, she returned to SMU in 2022 as the Director of On-Campus Recruiting and Experience before transitioning into the role of Director of Football Relations. In that capacity, she helped oversee recruiting operations, player engagement initiatives, and program logistics while enhancing the overall student-athlete experience.

Prior to her return to SMU, Taylor spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons at Arizona State as the On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator for the Sun Devils football program. She also previously worked in Olympic sports operations at ASU beginning in 2018.

Taylor’s history with SMU spans multiple roles across the athletics department. From 2010-16, she served as the Administrative Assistant/Recruiting Assistant for SMU Football, where she played a vital role in coordinating recruiting activities and supporting day-to-day football operations. She later returned as the Administrative Assistant for Olympic Sports from 2017-18.

Outside of collegiate athletics, Taylor has experience in education, counseling, and youth development, including positions with The Rise School of Dallas, the Moody Family YMCA, and Fieldhouse USA.

A graduate of SMU, Taylor earned her bachelor’s degree in cinema-television in 2009 before completing her master’s degree in counseling in 2016. She is also a licensed chemical dependency counselor intern and completed internships with SMU’s Center for Family Counseling at Frisco ISD as well as the SMU Health Center in alcohol and drug prevention. Additionally, she has served on the SMU Lettermen Executive Board.
