Ellis Bynum is a redshirt junior running back from Portland, Oregon. He stands 5’9” and weighs 200 pounds. Ellis is majoring in Finance with a minor in Spanish at Prairie View A&M University. He graduated from Central Catholic High School.
Ellis’s most memorable moment in sports was playing on ESPN in high school and rushing for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns against his hometown team.
His favorite entertainer is Druski, and his favorite movie is Rush Hour. Ellis enjoys catfish, and his favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it centers around family and amazing food. His hobbies include playing football, exercising, reading books, and going on walks or hikes.
His gameday ritual consists of meditating and visualizing in the morning, watching his highlights before the game, putting on his best music, and relaxing to let his instincts take over.
Ellis believes one of the greatest challenges for athletes today is finding an identity outside of their sport, especially with social media making everything public and impossible to escape—whether the athlete’s life is going well or not.
Five years down the line, Ellis hopes to look back and say he gave his absolute all without cutting any corners, living with no regrets about his work ethic. His dream job is to be a marketing or advertising manager for a sports company that represents and recruits athletes.
He chose Prairie View A&M because of the unique culture and the community’s genuine desire to see him succeed.
