Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Ashanti Hall, known as Shanti, is a freshman from Dallas, Texas. She stands 5’5” and is currently undecided on her major but is considering kinesiology or science (histology). Ashanti has been playing soccer since she was four years old at the YMCA and loves how unique the sport is. Inspired by her grandma, she pushes herself to keep going and take pride in representing athletes of color in soccer.

One of Ashanti’s most memorable moments was traveling to Germany for soccer. She believes mental health is one of the biggest challenges athletes face today, as it greatly impacts their performance and passion for the game. In her free time, Ashanti enjoys listening to music, making TikToks and dancing, knitting, and coloring. Her favorite movies are Home Alone and Norbit, and she loves Thanksgiving for the food and family time.

Ashanti chose Prairie View A&M because it felt like home and offered a supportive environment she knew would help her succeed. Five years from now, she hopes to develop her technical skills and soccer IQ enough to play professional soccer, but if that doesn’t happen, she plans to pursue a career as a histologist.
