Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Destiny Barragan, known as Des, is a freshman from Los Angeles majoring in Business at Prairie View A&M University. She plays as a defender and enjoys the competitive nature of soccer, which first inspired her to join the sport. Destiny’s passion is driven by her family, who have made many sacrifices to support her journey.

Some of her most memorable moments include making the DPL Select team, playing in Spain, and being named DPL MVP. She believes mentality and injuries are some of the biggest challenges athletes face today.

In her free time, Destiny enjoys playing video games. Her favorite movie is Home Alone, and she loves acai bowls. Christmas is her favorite holiday because it brings her closer to family and God. She chose Prairie View A&M because of the coaches’ vision for a winning program and the welcoming team atmosphere. In five years, Destiny hopes to go pro and play for the Mexico national team.
