JaKya Moore, a graduate transfer and setter from Knightdale, North Carolina, is pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration at Prairie View A&M. She graduated from Enloe High School. JaKya was inspired to play volleyball by her older cousin, whose influence led her to develop a deep passion for the sport.

Her favorite all-time movie is The Incredibles, and she enjoys the music of Gunna. JaKya’s favorite food is pesto pasta, and she looks forward to Christmas as her favorite holiday because it’s the only time she can gather with her entire family. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, shopping, and scrapbooking.

JaKya’s passion for volleyball is fueled by the belief and enthusiasm of her first volleyball coach, who helped her develop a love for the game. She sees one of the greatest challenges for athletes today as being perceived solely as entertainment rather than as individuals, noting a lack of compassion when mistakes occur.

One of her most memorable moments in sports includes attending the NCAA Tournament during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Looking ahead, JaKya aims to lead a Division I volleyball program to the NCAA Tournament and aspires to become a Division I volleyball coach.

JaKya chose Prairie View A&M because of her long-standing desire to attend an HBCU and compete in a competitive conference, aligning with her academic and athletic goals.
