SHREVEPORT, La. - Prairie View A&M bounced back in a big way on Thursday with an all-around effort as they shutout Alabama State 10-0 in consolation play of the SWAC Baseball Tournament.

The Panthers wasted no time in taking control of the contest with a six-run, seven-hit first inning that was highlighted by RBIs from Giovanni Angel, Rafael Perez, Brandon Brooks (2), Kyle Bible and Sal Hernandez. Prairie View A&M starting pitcher Derrick Mitchell and the Panther defense took full advantage of the early gift as the junior held ASU to only three hits through four innings of action. Prairie View added four more runs in the fourth and triggered the 10-run rule as Brandon Williams recorded a two-RBI single followed by another RBI from Bible.

Senior reliever Anthony Neves took over for Mitchell in the fifth and held ASU at bay as he struck out two and only allowed a hit in three innings. The contest was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.

PV exploded for 16 hits as Brooks, Angel and Evan Richard accounted for three apiece. Williams, Bible and Brooks all had three RBIs while Mitchell picked up the win after striking out three in four innings of work.

A potential busy day awaits the Panthers on Friday as they'll face the loser of tonight's Jackson State-Southern matchup at noon. If PV wins tomorrow at noon, they'll return to action at 6 p.m. to face the winner of tonight's Jackson State-Southern contest.

Friday's contests will be broadcasted live on www.KTORRADIO.com with live stats at www.SWAC.org.
