SHREVEPORT, La. - The 2011 baseball season came to an end for the Prairie View A&M Panthers as Jackson State scored three runs in the fifth en route to a 6-2 victory.
PV struck first as Andre Oliver singled home Colby Hines for an early 1-0 lead after the first inning. A PV fielding error in the third led to Jackson State's first run of the afternoon before a three-run outburst in the sixth fueled by three JSU hits and a PV error saw the Tigers charge ahead 4-1.
Jackson State moved ahead 6-1 in the seventh with another run and created enough cushion to withstand a late PV charge in the ninth as Sal Hernandez singled in PV's final run of the afternoon.
Seniors Giovanni Angel and Brandon Williams concluded their careers at PV with a pair of hits. Fellow senior Kellen Simmons was tagged with the loss as he allowed four runs with seven strikeouts in his final appearance as a Panther.
Prairie View A&M concludes the season with a 25-21 overall mark.
