Panthers Surpass The Century Mark In Win Over Dallas Christian

BOX SCORE

Prairie View A&M closed out its non-conference home slate in style as four players scored in double figures en route to a 107-59 victory over Dallas Christian in the William Nicks Building on Friday night.

The Panthers dominated from the opening tip as they stormed out to a 22-2 lead at the 14:36 mark as junior post Jules Montgomery and senior guard Ryan Gesiakowski combined to score 17 of PV's 22 points. Dallas Christian finally awoke from its drought after the early PV surge as DCC's Malcolm McCarty (27 points) was a one-man scoring machine. McCarty cut his team's deficit to 24-12 after scoring 10 of his team's 12 points.

Sensing the momentum change, head coach Byron Rimm II reinserted his starting lineup and the Panthers responded as Gesiakowski nailed back-to-back treys for a 31-14 advantage with 9:53 remaining. Prairie View A&M never looked back from that point as they outscored DCC 22-10 the remainder of the half en route to a 53-24 halftime advantage.

The Panthers were never threatened in the second stanza as the team extended its lead to as much as 51 points with 1:10 remaining the contest. The Panthers crossed the 100-point margin for the first time this season following Demondre Chapman's free throw at the 4:42 mark.

Every player for the Panthers scored tonight as Gesiakowski led the team with 18 points followed by 16 from Montgomery. Chapman scored 12 points while forward Josh Eleby chipped in with 12 points. Junior Rasi Jenkins led the Panthers with nine rebounds while Montgomery added eight boards. Senior guard Carl Blair dished out seven assists in 17 minutes of action.

Prairie View A&M returns to action next Saturday evening as they'll travel to UCLA for an 8 p.m. (CST) matchup at Pauley Pavilion.  The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network.
