Prairie View A&M head baseball coach Waskyla Cullivan will make an in-studio appearance this evening on the popular KCOH Radio 1430 AM “Sports Rap” radio show at 5 p.m. in Houston to promote this weekend's MLB Urban Invitational.
Hosted by Houston radio legend Ralph Cooper, Cullivan, coaches from the teams involved and Major League Baseball officials will discuss a variety of topics surrounding the state of baseball in the inner city in addition to promoting the Panther baseball program. The prestigious MLB Invitational kicks off tomorrow morning at the MLB Urban Academy in Houston at 11 a.m. as the Panthers will battle Southern University. On Saturday, the Panthers will face off against Texas Southern at Minute Maid Park in Houston at 7 p.m. and will close out the classic versus Grambling State at the MLB Urban Academy on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to call in to the show at (713) 526-1430 as Cullivan will field questions throughout the broadcast. The program will also be streamed live via the Internet at www.kcohradio.com or www.urbanwebcast.com (type KCOH in the search box).
Also on Saturday, a battle of the bands will take place between the PV “Marching Storm” and TSU “Ocean of Soul” at 6 p.m. at Minute Maid Park in addition to appearances from “American Idol” winner Ruben Studdard and Tony Award-winning artist Jennifer Holliday. Studdard will sing the national anthem prior to the 3 p.m. contest while Holiday will sing “America The Beautiful” before the start of the PV/TSU contest at 7 p.m.
