Big Innings Move Sam Houston State By Prairie View A&M

BOX SCORE

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Sam Houston State used a pair of big innings to defeat Prairie View A&M 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Don Sanders Stadium.

The Bearkats led 3-0 after two innings of action and moved on top 4-0 in the fifth.  Sam Houston State broke the game open in the sixth as the Panthers committed three errors which led to four more runs and an 8-0 deficit.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, James Rodriguez and Evan Richard drew consecutive walks and the Panthers loaded the bases following Brandon Brooks' single.  SHSU made a pitching change but PV remained hot as Darryl Johnson singled home Rodriguez for PV's lone run of the evening.

Cody Thompson fell to 0-1 on the season after allowing six hits and four runs in five innings of action.  Johnson tallied a hit and an RBI for the Panthers.
