GAME BOX SCORE

BEAUMONT, Texas - In a 9-0 loss to Lamar University, the Prairie View A&M baseball team couldn't provide any run support for starter Sean Hollis and dropped what was a defensive battle for the first six innings at Vincent-Beck Stadium on Tuesday Night.

Hollis went six innings against the Southland Conference opponent, surrendering three earned runs off 11 hits. He tallied two strikeouts before being relieved by De Leon Boyd to start the seventh. Lamar scored five runs in that inning.

The Panthers had a chance to get things going offensively in the top of the seventh when James Fontenot had the bases loaded with two outs. He went down on three pitches, as the final strike was called looking.

Fontenot found himself stranded in scoring position in the first inning after starting off the game with a lead-off double. He finished the game with one hit in four at-bats. Colby Hines and Evan Richard led the Panthers offensively, both going 2-for-3.

The Lamar pitching staff limited the Panthers to just six hits on Tuesday.

Prairie View A&M (20-19 11-6 SWAC) will try to end its four-game losing streak in Pine Bluff, Ark. as they will face the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in a three-game series, beginning with a noon doubleheader on Saturday. The last game of the series will be played Sunday at 1 p.m.
