NEW ORLEANS – The Prairie View A&M women's track team posted its best finish since 2010 as they placed second at the 2012 SWAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in New Orleans' Tad Gormley Stadium.

The Lady Panthers had an impressive showing on the track as they brought home the gold in several events on Sunday.  Junior Myesha Dixon led the way individually as she won her third individual event with a first-place run of 14.31 in the 100-meter hurdles.  Senior Corinna Brown won the high jump as she jumped a season-best 5-5 to win the event.  The Lady Panthers closed out the meet on a strong note as they edged out Alabama State by five-tenths of a second en route to a first-place performance in the mile relay.

Sophomore Terracia Moody placed second in the 400-meter dash with a season-best mark of 53.91 followed by Sylvonna Thompson's season-best second-place time of 1:00.24 in the 400-meter hurdles.  Sha'Reva Tyson ran PV's best time in the 800 this season as she finished third in a time of 2:14.58 while Martha Bustamante placed second in the 1,500-meter run after a 2012 best time of 4:45.67.  In the 4x100-meter relay, Prairie View A&M finished second as they ran their best time of the outdoor season in 46.52.  Aisha White was also a top performer for the Lady Panthers with a second-place jump of 39-3 in the triple jump.

The Lady Panthers now turn their attention to the national stage as several athletes will await an opportunity to compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas beginning on May 24.  The list of eligible participants for the event will be announced next week.
