	BEAUMONT, Texas - Prairie View A&M couldn't stop Lamar from pulling away in a 7-1 loss on the road in Beaumont on Tuesday night. Lamar scored five runs in the final four innings to defeat the Panthers.
	Trailing 2-0 in the sixth inning, the Panthers turned to designated hitter 
Greg Salcido. Salcido stepped into the box with runners at the corners and singled to centerfield to score third baseman 
Brad Benes, who reached earlier in the inning on a walk. Salcido's RBI single cut his team's deficit to 2-1 in the top of the sixth.
	However, the Cardinals bounced back with two runs in bottom of the sixth, two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to pull away from the Panthers. Prairie View A&M's starter Theodore Ater picked up his second loss of the season and threw 18 pitches before being pulled by Panthers skipper Waskyla Cullivan. Jayson McKinley picked up the victory for Lamar, which turned out to be Lamar's 11th consecutive victory.
	The Panthers fell to 7-8 on the season after the loss, and Lamar improved to 15-2. Prairie View A&M will travel to Houston for a three-game series versus Texas Southern and will kick off Game 1 of Saturday's double-header at noon. The final game of the weekend series will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday at MacGregor Park in Houston.
