Panthers Swept By Grambling

BOX SCORE

Despite tallying seven hits, the Panthers scoring offense still struggled in Game 3 of its series, and Prairie View A&M was defeated by Grambling 8-2 on Sunday.

Panthers junior left fielder Jeff Sealy had a monster game, hitting 3-for-4 from the field with one RBI. However, he was the only Prairie View A&M player with one or more hits and one of only two players to come through with runners in scoring position on the day.

Prairie View A&M actually held a 1-0 lead heading into the fourth thanks to Sealy's RBI single in the first to drive in designated hitter Greg Salcido. But after that run the Panthers offense stalled, and Grambling caught fire in the fourth and fifth innings. The Tigers piled on seven unanswered runs to put the game out of reach at 7-1.

Center fielder Colby Hines started things off in the sixth with a leadoff single and first baseman Dominiq Harris followed it up with a RBI single to cut the deficit to 7-2, but Grambling answered in the bottom of the sixth with a run of its own.

Prairie View A&M will try to bounce back from its rough weekend on Tuesday by getting its offense back on track with a double-header against Huston-Tillotson. The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 1 p.m.
