BOX SCORE
EDINBURG, Texas – A sacrifice fly in the third inning proved to be the difference as Texas-Pan American held off Prairie View A&M 1-0 in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.
With one out in the third, UTPA hit a pair of singles and loaded the bases after a walk which led to a sacrifice fly. The Panthers had an opportunity to score in the fifth as Walter Wells reached third but the inning came to an end with a groundout.
From that point, no Panther would reach third base as UTPA held the team to only four hits in the contest.
Robert Cossey, Colby Hines, Wells and Trey Price had one hit apiece for the Panthers while A.J. Helms fell to 0-2 on the season despite only allowing one run.
The tourney ends tomorrow as the Panthers will face UTPA at 3 p.m.
