BOX SCORE BEAUMONT, Texas – An eight-run third inning turned an early PVAMU lead into a large deficit as Lamar captured an 18-6 non-conference win at Vincent-Beck Stadium on Wednesday.
Greg Salcido hit a one out double in the second and was bunted over to third by Grant Dougherty. Walter Wells drove in the game's first run with an RBI double down the left field line.
The game quickly got out of hand in the third and fourth innings as Lamar combined to cross home 12 runs, with eight coming in the third. Tre Price scored on a wild pitch along with RBI singles from Harris and Jeff Sealy in the fifth for a 12-4 deficit.
A solo homer by Dougherty in the sixth and Harris' RBI double in the seventh led to PVAMU's final two runs in the contest but it wasn't enough as Lamar had tacked on six more runs in the sixth.
Harris finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Alex Richardson fell to 0-1 in 2.2 innings of action on the mound.
