BATON ROUGE, La. – Prairie View A&M picked up a key series road sweep as a six-run sixth inning fueled a 7-2 win over Southern on Sunday afternoon at Lee-Hines Field.

The Panthers went ahead 1-0 after the first on Greg Salcido's RBI single to right field but SU answered with a run in the third and another in the fifth to lead 2-1.

In the sixth, freshman Cody Den Beste drew a leadoff walk followed by Jeff Sealy's single and Dominiq Harris' RBI single to knot the contest at 2-all.  Salcido logged a two-RBI single in the sixth for a 4-2 advantage which led to Christian Krushall's RBI single for the team's fifth run.  With one out, Walter Wells and Colby Hines drew consecutive walks which paved the way for Robert Cossey's two-RBI sacrifice fly for a 7-2 lead.

Jonathan Mata struck out six in six innings of action while Jordan Stewart came on in relief and struck out two while allowing only one hit over the final three innings.  Salcido finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Sealy recorded two hits and two runs.

The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. versus Houston Baptist.  The contest is tentatively scheduled to be played at Prairie View A&M.
