GRAMBLING, La. – Prairie View A&M saw its quest for a series sweep denied on Sunday as Grambling State rallied with seven runs over the final three innings for a 12-11 loss.
The Panthers once again displayed their offensive prowess with a five-run first inning highlighted by Dominiq Harris' RBI single and Walter Wells' three-RBI double and run via a wild pitch. Grambling State chipped away with three runs in the second and third frame but the Panthers jumped ahead 9-3 in the fourth as Jeff Sealy drove in three RBIs while scoring on a wild pitch followed by an RBI from Harris.
PVAMU upped the lead to 11-3 as Sealy and Salcido recorded RBIs in the sixth but the floodgates opened for the Tigers from that point as errors haunted the Panthers. Grambling State scored nine times over the next three innings aided by a pair of errors and wild pitches.
Jordan Stewart fell to 0-2 in a relief effort while Sealy and Wells drove in three RBIS apiece. Sealy, Harris, Salcido and Trey Price had two hits each.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday as they'll face Houston Baptist at 1 p.m. in Houston.
