CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi defeated PVAMU 6-1 in a non-conference match-up in Corpus Christi, Texas on Thursday afternoon.
Brittany Harrell picked up the lone win for the Lady Panthers as she defeated A&M-CC's Maider Martin by a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) margin at No. 2 singles. Taylor LeFridge fell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 followed by a 6-0, 6-0 loss by Donielle Richard at No. 3. Sydney Thomas dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match to Celia Rodriguez while Maria Lackey lost a 6-1, 6-2 match. Payton Gore rounded out singles play at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-2 loss.
A&M-CC claimed all three doubles matches as Harrell/LeFridge fell 8-2 while Thomas/Lackey dropped an 8-4 contest at No. 2. At No. 3, the tandem of Gore and Richard fell 8-0.
The team will head to San Marcos, Texas next Saturday for a non-conference match-up.
