BOX SCORE HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Sam Houston State Bearkats scored 10 unanswered runs and kept Prairie View A&M off the scoreboard after the second inning Tuesday en route to a 10-3 win over the Panthers.

Spence Rahm went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, while Ryan Farney added two RBIs and a 4-for-4 evening for the Bearkats, who improved to 5-4 on the season. Reid Garrett earned the victory for the Bearkats after pitching a scoreless sixth inning; his team broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth.

Prairie View A&M starting pitcher
Cassity Land (pictured) absorbed the loss for the Panthers in spite of a respectable showing. Land pitched five and one-thirds innings and struck out four batters. Of the five runs he gave up, four were charged as earned runs.

Josh Jefferson knocked home all three Prairie View A&M runs when he knocked a bases-loaded double that scored
Kevin Macias,
David Drake, and
Darrien Williams with one out in the top of the second. Jefferson was left stranded when the next two batters struck out.

Grant Dougherty went 2-for-3 for the Panthers, while Drake, Williams, and
Walter Wells also picked up base hits in the game for the visitors.

The Panthers (2-6) saw their two-game winning streak snapped with the loss.

Prairie View A&M opens conference play this weekend when they visit Southern University for a three-game series. Due to the threat of inclement weather later in the weekend, the series will start Friday with a 1 p.m. game start. Saturday's doubleheader is still scheduled for noon.
